FORMER ROAD CHAMP'S BIKES STOLEN

FORMER national road race champion, Liverpool?s Pete Matthews had his three road bikes stolen from his garage last Tuesday night, on the eve of the Tour of Britain?s visit to the city (August 29).

?I?m sickened by this, all I?m left with now is my fixy,? said Matthews who had recently gone into semi-retirement. He sold his bike shop on Lower Breck Road to concentrate on his mail-order wheel building service.

The three stolen bikes are a 10-speed Pianni Neoro, all black with gold lettering; a Pete Mathews training bike in blue, white and black with a triple chainset and a winter bike in orange with black forks and Bianchi blue wheels, fitted with mudguards. All three bikes have Look pedals.
