Top junior sprinters from France and Germany will take on Britain’s young guns at Revolution 27 on Saturday, January 16.
Lining up for Great Britain will be John Paul, Callum Skinner, Louis Olivia and Kian Emadi along with female sprinters Vicki Williamson, Charlene Joiner, Cassie Gledhill and Helen Scott. The French will be sending Kevin Guillot, Julien Palma , Linda Michelini and Krystie Cyprien and the Germans will be represented by Stefan Boetticher, Bernard Esterhuizen, Christina Konsukle and Charlotte Arndt.
Whilst international rivalry will be intense the sprinters will also be racing for crucial points as part of the Revolution Championship. A male and a female sprinter will be assigned to each of the eight Revolution teams and will score championship points in the Sprint and Keirin events. A feature GB verses the Rest of the World Team Sprint will also be included but will sit outside the championship.
John Paul will be the one to watch and will be in his element in the sprint racing. After breaking the Junior National 200m TT record at the previous Revolution the young Scot will be fighting hard to help bring team Forza back to the top of the championship table.
The current leaders, Slicks, will rely on Louis Olivia and Helen Scott to fend off the challenge from Forza and Slicks captain Craig MacLean is confident his riders will deliver the goods,
“John Paul is clearly the man of the moment” commented MacLean. “But we have Louis Olivia who has come through the DHL Sprint School and is a great young athlete; he almost beat me at a roller race a couple of years ago! Helen Scott is also a product of the academy so will be strong in the women’s sprinting. I’ll do my best to boost their confidence and just as long as we ride tactically I’m confident we can hold onto the championship lead.”
In the elite events Geraint Thomas will return to join Chris Newton in team Rollers to take on rivals including Ed Clancy, Rob Hayles and Steven Burke.
