Ina-Yoko Teutenberg took her third win on the final stage of this year?s Tour de l?Aude as Cervelo claimed the overall courtesy of Claudia Hausler.
Teutenberg (Columbia) equalled Marianne Vos? (DSB Bank) haul of wins at this 25th edition of the ten-day race to increase her record number of stage wins in the tour to an incredible 18.
With the nearest challenger to Hausler ? Trixi Worrack of Nurnberger ? starting the day over two minutes behind on GC, Cervelo had a comfortable task controlling the race for their nominated leader.
An early break of six riders, including Teutenberg, posed no threat to Cervelo?s plans and were held at around one minute by the multi-national team, including Briton Emma Pooley, all the way to the finish in Limoux where the German sprinter duly won.
Nicole Cooke (Vision 1) finished safely in the bunch to maintain her position on GC. The World Champion is not at peak form yet but two second places and fifth overall show she is not far off.
Vision 1 team manager Stefan Wyman was impressed with the performance of the 13 British women at the Tour de l?Aude. ?The GB team had a lot of their young riders and they hung in there and ground it out,? he said.
?And I think Lizzie [Armitstead] was superb. Apart from Vos, she was the only other young rider to stay in contention. She is amazing.?
