Helen Wyman career profile
Helen Wyman is Britain’s greatest current female cyclo-cross rider. Wyman began racing at an early age but took up cyclo-cross seriously in 2001 whilst still at university studying as a physiotherapist.

Wyman quickly moved on in the sport to be selected for Great Britain for World Cup Races. Following a short break while finishing university and beginning her physiotherapy career, Wyman returned to the top flight of the sport in 2004 when selected to ride at the 2004 ‘cross Worlds.

Following some promising road performances, Wyman rode with the GB road team in 2004 across Europe, culminating in the World Road Championships in Madrid.

In 2005 Wyman signed for the Toyota Team in Germany, where she lived in Berlin, before moving to Belgium to ride for the first ever women’s professional team from the UK, Team FBUK. Since 2005, Wyman has been ranked in the top five in the world in cyclo-cross, won the UK national championships seven times in a row and also finished in the medals in the national road race championships.

Wyman enjoyed a particularly strong cyclo-cross season start in 2012, winning the prestigious Koppenbergcross and the European cyclo-cross championships back to back.

Wyman’s victories continued to mount in 2013 cyclo-cross season, defending her European ‘cross title and taking victory in Koppenbergcross and Superprestige Ruddervoorde. In 2015, Wyman took her ninth British ‘cross title.
