Pro Bike Kit rider Mark Holton scored a convincing victory in the opening round of the RTTC-Rudy Project Time Trial Series on Sunday, clocking 1-08-28 to win by almost a minute and a half over the two-lap, 31-mile event.

The 21-year-old Preston-based rider looked comfortable as he completed two laps of the circuit of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria in an event promoted by Border City Wheeler.

Averaging 27.342mph, Holton justified the tag of pre-race favourite as he pushed out KB Cycle Racing Team rider Dominic Munnelly to second spot by 1-28, while Pezula Racing Team?s youngster Richard Meadows was third – and best of the espoirs – at another 38 seconds.

VC St Raphael?s Sarah Storey won the women?s one-lap event with a time of 38-15, pushing Edinburgh Road Club?s Jessica Wilson-Young into second by 36 seconds, while Tom Walker (Torq Colnago) was fastest of the juniors with 35-08.
