THE winner for the last two years, Michael Hutchinson (In Gear-Quickvit RT) is last man off once again in Sunday?s National 10-mile Championship in Cambridgeshire.

Although he has not been competing regularly this season Hutchinson is still the man to beat having clocked a 19-50 in his only 10-mile event this season at Thruxton.

But with national 25-mile champion Jason MacIntyre and in-form Alex Dowsett of the GB Under-23 Academy also riding, the event looks set to be the most open for years.

The day begins with the juniors at 10am, where Richard Meadows (Liverpool Mercury RC) looks likely to secure a medal, having clocked a best of 19-56. His nearest rival on previous best times is Andrew Griffiths (Glendene CC), although his is 1-31 slower than Meadows.

Following the juniors, the 148-strong women?s field starts at 11.11am, with defending champion and World Cup track champion Wendy Houvenaghel (Science in Sport.com) once again facing a challenge from Julia Shaw (GS Strada).
