Ian Bibby and Nikki Juniper win Ryedale Grand Prix
Bibby and Juniper take Ryedale Grand Prix victories in North Yorkshire as Abby-Mae Parkinson is crowned junior national champion
Ian Bibby and Nikki Juniper were the senior winners in the men’s and women’s Ryedale Grand Prix as North Yorkshire staged a host of top-level races over the weekend.
NFTO’s Ian Bibby recorded his second victory of the 2015 Elite Road Series by snatching victory on the line of the Men’s Ryedale Grand Prix on Sunday.
It was a fitting end to what was a fantastic race with attacks constantly being made throughout the 150-kilometre race held at Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire.
Tom Moses of JLT Condor looked to have made the winning attack just short of the line but Bibby dug deep to lunge over the line ahead of his rival. Moses had to settle for second and Pete Williams (One Pro Cycling) came third.
Bibby said: “It was a really good team ride. We had people in every move. I started the season well, won a couple but then died off a bit. I really got my head down the last few weeks and it paid off.”
The women’s event saw Giordana Triton riders Juniper and Abby-Mae Parkinson grab the headlines.
Juniper, with the Series already sewn up, showed no signs of letting up as she beat Parkinson in the sprint, with Rebecca Nixon (Fusion RT) taking third.

It was still cause for celebration for Parkinson with the 17-year-old’s second place enough to crown her the junior champion.
“I know Abby’s a super strong time triallist on the flat so I was just trying to temper it on the hills and give her a bit of rest on the front now and again,” Juniper said after the race.
And on Saturday, RST Racing Team’s Nathan Draper won a sprint finish to claim the National Junior Men’s Road Race Championship. Robert Scott (VCUK PH MAS) was just a fraction behind the Isle of Man rider and Alfie Moses (HMT Academy) had to settle for third.
