Entries for the inaugural Howies Battle on the Beach cycle race have sold out in just three days after going on sale on New Year’s Day, the organiser reports.

The unique event takes place on Sunday, March 16, on Pembrey beach, South Wales and was open to mountain bikers and cyclo-crossers capable of dealing with the sandy terrain.

In addition to the beach, riders will traverse areas and obstacles on the former Ministry of Defence land that includes pillboxes and tunnels.

‘Generous cash prizes’ have been promised from event sponsors Howies, Lezyne and Schwalbe.
