Olympic team pursuit gold medallists Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott have been confirmed for the women’s elite criterium at the IG London Nocturne event on Saturday, June 8.

The trio will ride in their Wiggle-Honda colours at the evening event taking place at Smithfield Market, the first time that the squad has raced in the UK.

“I’m really excited about this race, there are always so many fans lining the streets, and we’ll want to put on a great performance,” said Trott. “The IG London Nocturne will be important for us leading into the National Championships – it will be our last real test against a competitive field.”

The evening’s men’s and women’s elite criterium races are accompanied by many other events, including the popular Time Out London Folding Bike Race, Longest Skid Competition and the Brooks Penny Farthing Race. Thanks to its location, there are plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars in the vicinity making for a lively evening’s entertainment.

It’s free for spectators to watch the event from the side of the circuit, and an estimated 10,000 people turned out to witness the action last year.

For the first time this year, tickets are available for seats in a grandstand looking over the finish/start line.

Highlights of this year’s racing will be broadcast in a one-hour highlights show on Channel 4.

More information on the event can be found on the IG London Nocturne website.
