Marianne Vos escapes serious injury after heavy crash (video)

The former world champion has tweeted to say she's be fine, despite what looks like a heavy crash. Read on for more of the best cycling videos from the past week

Undoubtedly one of the best cyclists ever, Marianne Vos's 2015 season was far from ideal. The Dutchwoman was plagued by injury and only competed in a handful of racing days.

Now building back up to her best, she raced the Boezinge round of the Lotto Cycling Cup on Sunday, April 24.

Well positioned and looking likely to take the victory, the 28-year-old's bike kicked out from under her, flying one way and then the other, and caused the rider to collide with the barrier, just a few bike lengths from the finish line.

Despite what looked like a heavy impact, Vos later tweeted to assure fans she's fine, and showed us an interestingly shaped cut on her leg.

Gerrie Knetemann's daughter looks back at her father's career

Gerrie Knetemann won the 1978 Road Race World Championships, overall at Paris-Nice in the same year and a total of 10 stages of the Tour de France.

But it is the Dutchman's two victories at home in the Amstel Gold Race, 11 years apart, that many know him for and it is those wins this video focuses on.

His daughter Roxane Knetemann is a professional in her own right, riding at the top level for Rabo-Liv.

This video details her journey to learn more about her father's career, something she didn't know a lot about until after his death in 2004 from a heart attack, aged just 53.

Sagan's MTB return doesn't end quite how he wanted

As you will have seen above, many in the pro peloton believe Peter Sagan to be a master bike handler, and for the most part that's true.

However, things didn't go his way on his return to mountain biking, where a minor crash and resulting mechanical forced him to walk to the finish.

Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2016 highlights

The 2016 edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège looked like it might be completely characterised by the weather: sleet and snow in late April forced the riders to tackle freezing conditions as well as the hilly parcours.

Although the weather was a big part of the day, thankfully the racing was pretty good too. Wout Poels (Team Sky) followed the attack of Michael Albasini (Orica-GreenEdge) on the final climb of the day, then timed his sprint just right to take Team Sky's first Monument win.

The Ardennes Classics don't quite carry the same weight as their cobbled cousins, but this was certainly a good race and worth recapping in the highlights above.
