Sprinters Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel will both line up for the inaugural Dubai Tour, starting on February 5.

The Omega Pharma-QuickStep fastman and Giant-Shimano rider are part of an impressive start list for the first running of the Middle East race.

Vincenzo Nibali (Astana), Peter Sagan (Cannondale), Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha), Thor Hushovd (BMC), Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-QuickStep), Taylor Phinney (BMC), Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida) and Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing) are all scheduled to start.

Along with Cavendish, Great Britain will be represented by Alex Dowsett (Movistar) and Alex Coutts (RTS-Santic).

The race opens on Wednesday, February 5, with a 10km time trial which will give the first opportunity for the big time trial names to clash this season. Cancellara, Martin, Phinney and Dowsett will all be vying for top honours in the early-season event’s opener.

The UCI 2.1-ranked Dubai Tour runs over four days, finishing on February 8.

The race is organised by RCS Sport, who also organise the Giro d’Italia, Milan-San Remo and many other events. The Dubai Tour in the first event in the 2014 UCI Asia Tour, and is followed in the Middle East by the Tour of Qatar (February 9-14) and Tour of Oman (February 18-23).
