Raleigh-GAC riders and team management were on hand yesterday to unveil The Nottingham as a co-sponsor of the team at the building society’s new headquarters in the East Midlands city.
The announcement comes following the squad’s encouraging start to 2012, in which they have taken a stage victory in the Vuelta Mexico and produced strong showings in the opening two Premier Calendar rounds.
And while the bicycle company this celebrates its 125th birthday, their new sponsor has been in existence since 1849.
Signed team jerseys will be on show in The Nottingham’s 32 branches across the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, while the riders should be wearing their updated kit during Sunday’s Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic.
Team manager Cherie Pridham was understandably pleased to have a new partner on board. “It’s fantastic news to bring in a new sponsor so early in the season. Things are looking really good for us right now,” she told Cycling Weekly.
The Nottingham’s chief executive David Marlow spoke of his delight at the partnership, saying: “We’re proud to be involved with such an iconic brand that also has its roots in Nottingham.”
