Rider's-eye view of the Longest Lap track stand (video)

A Swiss rider struggles with a track stand at the start of a Marymoor Crawl race

We’ve featured a couple of ‘Longest Lap’ videos from the Revolution Series in recent weeks, but take a look at this video to see just how strenuous it can be to hold a track stand.

The video is from the same rider who brought us the chest-cam action of the Madison race featured here yesterday, although this one is a little less action-packed.

For those who haven’t seen a Marymoor Crawl race, the idea is to hold a track stand for up to four minutes without crossing the starting line, before sprinting for the win when the starter fires the gun.

While the likes of Ben Swift, Adam Blythe and Luke Rowe seem to have pretty much mastered the art of the track stand, the wobbling of the riders in this clip remind us how hard it is. Unfortunately the rider never actually gets to race the lap because they put their foot down and therefore is eliminated from the race.

Check out our guide to the Marymoor Crawl and maybe try to perfect your own track stand, but do it in a safe place – it could end badly the first time.
