Team Saxo Bank stamped its authority over its home race, the Tour of Denmark, with Matti Breschel winning Friday’s third stage and taking the overall lead.

Breschel’s team-mate and fellow Dane Jakob Fuglsang came second on the stage and is now also second overall. Fuglsang won the race in 2008 and 2009.

Breschel and Fuglsang came across the line 17 seconds ahead of Joost Van Leijen (Vacansoleil) in the six-day race. Van Leijen sits in third place overall.

The UCI 2.HC-ranked Tour of Denmark concludes on Sunday, August 8.
