Scott Sports will provide bikes and helmets to the Australian Green Edge squad, it has been announced.
The team will use the finished road bikes from Scott’s on-going F01 project, along with Plasma 3 time trial bikes.
“The main priority in striking a deal with a bike manufacturer was to ensure the team was getting the best equipment that would give the riders an edge on their competitors,” said Green Edge general manager Shayne Bannan.
“Some of the stages in a race like the Tour de France can last up to seven hours and every little bit of energy that can be saved by having the best equipment can make the difference between first and second place.”
Green Edge is hoping to gain a Proteam licence from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in order to compete in the sport’s top flight – the UCI’s Worldtour race calendar – including the Tour de France.
Scott’s Plasma Premium time trial model is one of the first bikes to pass the UCI’s newly-introduced ‘Approved’ equipment scheme.
