Six-time Olympic gold medalist Chris Hoy is reportedly set to announce his retirement from professional track cycling this week in Edinburgh.

British Cycling has issued a press release advertising a “major announcement” on Thursday at Murrayfield Stadium.

Hoy won two gold medals at the London Olympic Games last year in the team sprint and keirin bringing his international medal count to an incredible 84.

The 37 year old avoided questions on retirement after the London Olympics expressing an interest to compete at next year’s Commonwealth Games where track events are to be hosted at a self-titled velodrome on his home turf.

Hoy earlier this year announced his own bike range.
