Southampton University to host cycling speakers night

Cycling fans on the south coast will have the opportunity to hear from the man who cycled across the Alps without rest.

Southampton University Road Cycling Club (SURC) are hosting an evening of cycling speakers on Thursday (November 6) including endurance-man Mike Cotty, who pedalled 666 kilometres over the Alpine peaks in 2013 and then 1,000km this year across the Dolomites, Eastern Alps and Swiss Alps.

The evening is being held to inspire and educate. SURC say, “Mike knows how to set and beat goals and he has mastered his body's physical ability, he understands that the lessons he has learnt on the bike have a wider meaning in life and that there's no substitute for plain hard work."

Also speaking is local cycling shop owner and expert bike fitter Garth Kruger of Vankru Cycling. Liam Glen, a Dave Rayner Funded rider who has spent this summer in Belgium, will also be discussing his year racing in Flanders.
