Specialized and McLaren unveiled their new aero road bike to the world’s press in Woking today. The launch took place at the Formula One team’s HQ, two days ahead of Milan-San Remo, where Mark Cavendish will ride the bike for the first time in competition.

The model pictured below is the McLaren Venge that will go onsale alongside the S-Works Venge. The McLaren frame uses the team’s knowledge of carbon fibre layering to create a different frame to the one badged more clearly as a Specialized.

All the frames will be made in Specialized’s production facility in Taiwan.

The orange graphics are unique to the McLaren model, the S-Works frame is likely to have more familiar Specialized decals, or that of the teams they sponsor.

Three riders from each of Specialized’s three Worldtour teams will ride the McLaren bike in the Italian classic on Saturday – HTC-Highroad, Astana and Saxo Bank-Sungard.

I was in my LBS enquiring about a Tarmac for my son and the owner advised me that there is also an aluminium Venge coming out, same shape and geometry, same wight and same stiffness, but way cheaper. When I see it I’ll believe it!
