SPRINT STARS AT REVOLUTION 16

Revolution 16 at the Manchester velodrome on January 20 will see some aggressive sprint racing as multi-world champion Arnaud Tournant takes on Scotland?s Craig MacLean. Tournant last appeared at Revolution 11 in January 2006 where he won the 1km Madison Time Trial with Craig MacLean but the two are expected to clash in the sprint, keirin and kilo events.

?I?m looking forward to racing again at the Revolution. The atmosphere is always very good and last year we had some fun with the Madison race,? Arnaud said.

?Craig is going very well this year so it will be an interesting challenge to race against him in Manchester and a good test before the World Championships.?

Maclean will skip the Los Angeles World Cup to test his form on home ground at the Revolution.

?I had a great start to the season. I didn?t go to Sydney with any expectations and was very pleased to get the gold. The main objective was to qualify in the Sprint for the World Championships which I?ve done so now I can get amongst the action at the final Revolution,? he said.

?Tournant will be there and I believe there are some other big names so it will be an exciting event and good preparation ahead of the Manchester World Cup.?

In addition to MacLean, Tournant will be joined by French team mates Matthieu Mandard and Michael D'Almeida with more international sprint stars due to be announced soon. Organisers are warning spectators to travel early to the velodrome for Revolution 16 because Manchester City are playing at home on the same day. Traffic will be congested and some surrounding roads will be closed.
