British-based Team Sky has announced who it will be sending to a host of major races in the coming few weeks, including Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, Milan-San Remo and Ghent-Wevelgem.

The first race in March that the ProTour squad will take part in is the Tour of Murcia in Spain, starting on Wednesday (March 3).

Before that, the team will be contesting Saturday’s Classics season opener, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (February 27) in Belgium.

Sky’s Edvald Boasson Hagen ranks as one of the favourites for the win in Het Nieuwsblad, after starting the season strongly in the Tours of Qatar and Oman. The Norwegian is also named in Sky’s Ghent-Wevelgem squad, where he will be defending his 2009 win.

Bradley Wiggins continues his Tour de France build-up with appearances at the five-day Tour of Murcia (March 3-7) and Volta Ciclista a Catalunya (March 22-28). Wiggins placed second in the Tour of Andalusia’s individual time trial on Wednesday.

Wiggins is also slated to ride in the Giro d’Italia in May.
