Geraint Thomas will miss the World Track Championships in March, and aim for strong form in the Classics as the Sky rider focuses fully on road-racing this season.

"I'll go back to the track for the Olympics, definitely be back there on the track this winter and want to do the World Track Champs in 2011, but I'll be concentrating on the road for now," Thomas told Cycling Weekly before the start of the final stage of the Tour of Qatar on Friday.

"I wanted to do that last year but I crashed so it all kind of changed."

"I set a fairly good benchmark in the [Manchester] World Cup last year," [setting the second fastest time ever in an individual pursuit] "so I know I can do well there, and there's definitely a few more gold medals I want to win on the track."

Thomas next race will be the Tour of Oman, which he'll be following up with Paris-Nice, Milan-San Remo, E3 Harelbeke, Ghent-Wevelgem, Flanders and Paris-Roubaix - which he won as a junior in 2004.

"It's been a while since I've been in the cobbled Classics, I've only done Scheldeprijs since I turned pro, so there's a few cobwebs there."

"I'll have one peak of form at the end of March, just in time for the Classics, with this race and the Tour of Oman I'll be coming up nicely."

"But it'll be great, I'll be there to help Eddy [Boasson Hagen] and [Juan Antonio] Flecha and have that for the future as well."

Thomas will not be taking part in the Giro, becuase "I said to the management I want to go all out fo rthe Tour."

"If that doesn't happen, so be it, but I don't want to jeopardize anything for the Tour, and I'm willing to take that risk."
