German Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) won the final time trial of the 2013 Volta ao Algarve to take the overall win on Sunday.

World time trial champion Martin beat the next fastest finisher – Polish team-mate Michal Kwiatkowski – by a convincing margin of one minute and seven seconds to finish atop the leader board. New Zealander Jesse Sergent (RadioShack-Leopard) was third on the stage, 1-15 adrift of Martin.

Kwiatkowski finished second behind Martin in the general classification, with Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil-DCM) in third.

Twenty year old Josh Edmondson (Sky) continues to impress in his debut year with Sky. Having finished in seventh spot on Saturday’s mountain stage to Alto do Malhao, Edmondson went on to post a respectible time trial time to finish 16th overall.

Overnight leader and stage three winner Sergio Henao (Sky) finished 14th in the TT to slip to 12th overall.
