The fourth stage of the 2013 Tour de France will be a team time trial around Nice, the race’s organiser Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) revealed on Thursday.

As previously announced, the opening three stages will take place on the Mediterranean island of Corsica before returning to French mainland for the TTT.

Exact length and route of the fourth stage were not divulged by ASO, other than the stage will finish on the sea front at Promenade des Anglais. The following day’s road stage (five) will start from Cagnes-sur-Mer on the outskirts of Nice.

Nice has been used as a Tour stage venue on 35 previous occasions. The 2013 Tour will be the 100th edition of the race.

Tour de France 2013

Stage one – June 29 – Porto-Vecchio to Bastia, 200 km

Stage two – June 30 – Bastia to Ajaccio, 155 km

Stage three – July 1 – Ajaccio to Calvi, 145 km

Stage four – July 2 – Nice to Nice, team time trial
