TRACK MARATHON FOR PARALYMPIC GOLD MEDALLISTS

Paralympic gold medallists Darren Kenny and Simon Richardson take to the boards again at Calshot raising money for Children in Need on Thursday, November 13.

The Team Midland 24 Hour Trackathon will feature seven club teams and the Team GB duo lapping the track in relays with a Pudsey bear on board in aid of the BBC appeal.

The event is the brainchild of Graham Hewson, a dedicated fundraiser and organiser of the Tour of the Tracks, sessions held at Calshot, Manchester and Newport velodromes earlier this year in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The BBC cameras will be trackside to see Kenny and Richardson in action as they aim to raise £10,000 by lapping the tight 142m track for 24 hours.

Kenny is using the event as part of his preparation for an upcoming attempt on the Paralympic hour record, which he aims to bring in line with the able-bodied record by doing an ?athlete?s hour?, using a standard track bike and no aerodynamic equipment.

Supporters and helpers are most welcome on the day and donations can be made via the Team Midland website which will monitor the team?s progress with hourly updates throughout the event.
