Victoria Pendleton today modeled the kit that the British cyclists will wear at this year’s Olympic games.

The launch took place in the Adidas performance store on Oxford street at the unearthly hour of 8am. Despite the early alarm call, Pendleton was inundated with media requests during a busy week for the track world champion and Olympic favourite.

Yesterday she launched the ‘Golds for Girls’ initiative at the Manchester velodrome before hot footing it down to London for today’s kit launch in the Adidas store. The skinsuit Pendleton is modeling incorporates Adidas’s TECHFIT technology, designed to keep the athletes cool in the humid environment expected in Beijing this August.

However, Some, most or all of the track cycling team will in fact be wearing special skinsuits designed by British Cycling and the UK Institute of Sport and made by Adidas. The clothing is currently hidden away in Chris Boardman’s now infamous Secret Squirrel Club in the bowels of Manchester velodrome.

Cycling Weekly will be revealing some of Boardman’s most closely guarded secrets as the Olympics draw closer.
