A full schedule of start times for Saturday evening’s opening team time trial stage of the 2010 Vuelta a Espana has been published by the race’s organiser.

Twenty two teams comprising nine rider apiece – 198 in total – will take to the streets of Seville, Spain, and will cover 13 kilometres to decide who will wear the first leader’s jersey of the 2010 Vuelta.

The riders will appreciate the evening start times – daytime temperatures have soared to the mid-40s centigrade this week in Seville.

Footon-Servetto are the first team off at 10.04pm local time, 9.04pm British time. Squads then set off at four-minute intervals. Last team off are Spanish outfit Andalucia-Cajasur at 11.28pm local time, 10.28pm British time.

British sprinter Mark Cavendish’s HTC-Columbia squad are sixth team off at 10.24pm local time (9.24pm British time). Cavendish is in the hunt for stage wins at this years race, which would make him only the second Briton in history to win in all three grand tours after Scot Robert Millar. If Columbia wins the TTT and Cavendish then wins one of the first few road stages, he could move into the race lead.
