Video highlights of the action in Hong Kong during the final round of the 2015/16 UCI Track World Cup
Great Britain’s team sprint squad of Philip Hindes, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner overhauled Poland in the final to clinch gold in the last round of the UCI Track World Cup in Hong Kong over the weekend (January 15-17).
It’s the first medal for the GB sprint team this season, and comes just at the right time for a major confidence boost ahead of the World Championships in March and then the big one: the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.
Former GB track sprint star Sir Chris Hoy was one of the first to congratulate the team on its performance, saying: “GB track team starting to hit their stride with 6 months to go until the Games. Great to see! :-)”
After the team sprint success, Kenny went on to claim bronze in the individual sprint.
In all, Great Britain secured eight medals in Hong Kong, with Laura Trott adding to the men’s team sprint gold by winning the women’s omnium on Sunday. Earlier in the competition, Trott had ridden to silver in the women’s scratch race.
