Porter honoured by Wolverhampton

Hugh Porter - the voice of BBC cycling and former four time world pursuit champion - received the Freedom of the City of Wolverhampton last Monday, April 20.

The honour was officially granted back in December of last year but Porter was invited to join the city's Mayor Christine Mills and other city dignitaries last week at a special dinner to recognise his achievement.

As part of the celebration dinner at the city's civic building, Porter was presented with a presentation scroll to mark the occasion.

Porter joins only three other current living Wulfrunians that hold the prestigious city honour which includes the Wolverhampton Wanders owner and life president Sir Jack Hayward, Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis and Lord Dennis Turner of Bilston.
