Pooley gets the all-clear after crashing heavily

Emma Pooley (Cervélo) was taken to hospital for a check-up after crashing heavily in today's Flèche Wallonne Feminine.

The crash occurred very early on in the race, just ten kilometres in, on a fast, dangerous downhill section.

Pooley was taken to hospital in Huy for a check-up, where she had an x-ray.

Although she had several cuts and bruises on her knee and face, there was no concussion as was originally suspected and she was given the all-clear.

It was a race in which Pooley would have high expectations. A strong climber, the vicious ascent of the Mur de Huy suits the Briton and this year she would have had the chance to work for herself, as last year she formed part of a Great Britain team formed around Nicole Cooke.

Pooley was said to be "very disappointed" about what happened, although is expected to resume training within the next couple of days.
