Edvald Boasson Hagen career profile

Edvald Boasson Hagen is perhaps one of the most formidable young cycling talents to have emerged in many years.

The Norwegian burst onto the scene in 2006, taking three stages of the Tour de l'Avenir, a race generally regarded as a crystal ball for future stars.

In 2007, he was the most successful cyclist in the entire peloton, with fifteen wins to his credit. By this point, he was already being talked about in reverential terms and was snapped up by High Road/Columbia in 2008.

It was in 2008 that Boasson Hagen really began to shine. He beat some of the worlds top time triallists at Critérium International and went on to take three stages in the Tour of Britain.

Well-suited to short stage races, time trials and the Classics, he won the 2009 Ghent-Wevelgem and took fourth in the Eroica.

Along with a team time trial victory, Boasson Hagen took his first Grand Tour stage in the 2009 Giro d'Italia, and took four stage victories on the way to a crushing overall victory in the Tour of Britain.
