Kevin Seeldraeyers career profile

Kevin Seeldraeyers is an unusual commodity in Belgian, particularly Flemish, cycling: he can climb.

Turning professional for Quick Step in 2007, Seeldraeyers made a name for himself in his first year as a pro, taking 26th overall at the Dauphiné Libéré, no mean feat with such little exposure to the sport’s top events.

Having served his domestique apprenticeship duties at Quick Step, he was the revelation of the 2009 Paris-Nice.

Helping team-mate Sylvain Chavanel take the yellow jersey and third place overall, Seeldrayers snatched the young rider’s white jersey and held on to it doggedly as well as a promising seventh place on the final GC.

He confirmed his potential later in the year at the Giro d'Italia, where he once again took a hard-fought young riders' jersey and rode strongly in the mountains to defend his lead.
