BEIJING SILVER-MEDALLIST JOHANSSON VOTED SWEDISH FEMALE SPORTSPERSON OF YEAR
Swedish cycling has had a much needed boost at home recently with road star Emma Johansson - silver-medallist behind Nicole Cooke in the Beijing Olympic road race and fourth in the World road race championship - voted Swedish Female Sportsperson of the Year.
Johansson, 25, beat world top golfer Annika Sorenstam and world record-breaking hurdler Susanna Kallur for the award.
Zlatan Ibrahimovich won Best Player in Italy’s Serie A, plus Best Foreign Play, plus Best Goal.
Johansson, a former cross-country skier, rides for the AA-Drink Team of Holland.
The Swedish sports awards are decided by a panel consisting of athletes, both current and past, plus members of the media and sports officials from club and national level.
