GB CYCLISTS AND BRAILSFORD WIN BBC AWARDS

Along with Chris Hoy's individual award, Great Britain's Olympic cyclists and British Cycling's performance director David Brailsford have respectively scooped the Team of the Year and Coach of the Year awards in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.

With an avalanche of medals on the track and road, many of Britain's cyclists have become household names since the Beijing Olympic Games in August, and both awards recognise the achievements of the riders and the team of support staff behind them. The cyclists' 14 medals - including eight golds - accounted for a third of Britain's total medal count at the Games.

"There's only one reason that I'm here tonight," Brailsford (pictured) said after accepting the coach award during Sunday night's live broadcast on BBC1. "And that's due to the coaching team and riders. I'm really accepting this award on their behalf."

Cyclists took centre stage throughout the whole ceremony, with a parade of all of the gold medal winning cyclists riding through the crowds before taking to the stage to loud applause. Overall winner Hoy got the biggest cheer of the night.
