WIGGINS NOT RIDING
Bradley Wiggins has not started the Munich Six Day after an on-off saga, cyclingweekly.co.uk can reveal.

He had been lined up to ride with Erik Zabel but after a sponsor pulled out Wiggins’s contract was cancelled. Then he was offered a ride with Switzerland’s Bruno Risi but decided not to take it.

British Cycling coach Shane Sutton said: “There was a bit of contract negotiation in the beginning and we eventually agreed a fee. Then there was some problem with one of the sponsors and so we weren’t going, then we were again, now we weren’t. It’s been a bit of a pain to be honest but it’s probably not a bad thing that Brad isn’t going there.”

Wiggins rode the first round of the World Cup in Manchester but will now be taking a much needed rest before joining his new Garmin Chipotle team-mates at their pre-season meeting in a few weeks’ time.

CROSS NATIONAL TROPHY
The CiCLE Classic National Trophy cyclo-cross event on Sunday, December 14 takes place in the picturesque setting of Rutland Water and is the newest venue to host a National Trophy.

Clews and Rutland County Council have teamed up with Discover Rutland to offer special deals on hotel and B&B accommodation for those wishing to make a weekend of it in England’s smallest county.
