Emma Pooley has been confirmed as part of the Cervélo-Lifeforce team for 2009.

Pooley had been widely expected to join the Cervélo-Lifeforce team, but it has taken until early November for the final confirmation to come through.

The 26-year-old’s most important triumph to date has been the silver medal in the Olympic time trial in Beijing, where she also played a key role in Nicole Cooke’s triumph in the road-race.

Pooley has also been a World Cup leader, as well as taking the Trofeo Alfredo Binda round of the World Cup this spring.

Speaking in the official press release that confirmed the news, Pooley said “I admire the Cervélo-Lifeforce Team because of their professionalism, their tactical strength, and the results they therefore get.”

“I’m very pleased to have the chance to learn from the riders and the team management to improve my racing and work as an effective part of the team. I’m really looking forward to working together with such a friendly and welcoming team.”

It was confirmed on Monday that both Roger Hammond and Dan Fleeman will be forming part of the new Cervélo men’s team in 2009. Rumours that the two would be joining Dan Lloyd and Jeremy Hunt at the Cervélo squad had been circulating for several weeks.
