WIGGINS TO MUNICH SIX
Bradley Wiggins has agreed to ride the Munich Six-Day after all.

He had been due to partner Erik Zabel in both the Dortmund and Munich Six-Days, but after one of the main sponsors of the Bavarian event pulled out in light of the doping scandals afflicted German road cycling, something had to give and some of the big-earners had their contracts cancelled.

Wiggins then pulled out of Dortmund to ride the Manchester World Cup instead. On Sunday morning he received a call asking if he wanted to partner Swiss star Bruno Risi in Munich and so he will fly to Germany this week for the event (November 6-11).

HELL OF THE ASHDOWN FOREST ENTRIES OPEN
Entries for the Hell of the Ashdown Forest sportive are now open.

The sportive, set to be held on February 1 2009, will take riders over some of the classic routes of the area, including the infamous ‘Wall’.

Thanks to electronic timing, which allows a continuous stream of riders through the start gate, the organizers will now be admitting 780 riders (nearly one third of an increase on last year).

HARRIS IN BELGIUM
Britain’s Nikki Harris was in action yesterday at the second round of the women’s Superprestige cyclo-cross series, at Veghel-Eerde in Holland.

Harris finished third, behind two Dutch riders Reza Hormes-Ravenstijn and Loes Gunnewijk.

BRITISH DUO IN FRANCE
The British cyclo-cross duo of Helen Wyman and Gabriella Day were in action again yesterday at the European cyclo-cross championships in France.

Wyman finished in 8th, 1:45 behind race-winner Hanka Kupfernagel of Germany, with Day in 16th.

Britain’s Scott Thwaites was also at the event, in the men’s U23 race. Thwaites finished 34th, one lap behind race-winner Philip Walsleben.

TOUR WINNER IN NEW YORK MARATHON
Ireland’s Tour de France winner, Stephen Roche, ran the New York marathon yesterday, coming in with a time of 4:21:09.

Running to raise funds for the Geoff Thomas Foundation, Roche was joined by Thomas himself (4:24:33) and former British professional, Brian Smith (4:43:58).
