STUART HOLDSWORTH FATALLY INJURED IN ROAD COLLISION


Stuart Holdsworth, secretary of the Dave Rayner Fund, died after being in collision with a motor vehicle yesterday morning (Thursday, October 2).

Holdsworth, who was 64, was cycling on the A65 Settle bypass near Gildersleets, in Giggleswick when he was in collision with a VW silver Golf car towing a caravan. The incident occurred at 11.05. Holdsworth was taken to Airedale General Hospital where he died of his injuries.

He was key member of the Dave Rayner Fund committee, co-organiser of their annual Fund dinner and organiser of the popular annual 110 miles Etape du Dales sportive.

In addition to this, Holdsworth was secretary of the Settle-based World Wide Wheelers racing cycling club.

He organised many cycling events, including the recent Settle Community and Cycling Festival.

Police investigating the fatal collision ask for anyone with information to call PC Ken Riley, on 0845 6060 247.
