PARALYMPICS: FIVE GOLDS AND A SILVER ON THIRD DAY
Britain?s Paralympic cyclists can do no wrong on the track as Team GB riders took gold in every event entered at the Laoshan velodrome.
Five golds, one silver and four world records completed a remarkable day?s work for the squad as the programme of pursuits and kilos unfolded and the Union Jack repeatedly hoisted.
Team GB currently sit in a healthy second position in the medal table behind China with fourteen gold medals in the bag ? nine of them courtesy of our cyclists!
Expect more medals ? and some fireworks ? tomorrow as the tandems get back on the track for the men?s sprint.
MEN?S PURSUIT (LC3)
Simon Richardson took his second gold of the Games and set a new world record in qualifying. The top three riders all finished inside the previous record during the heats, but the final saw Richardson beat Masaki Fujita by a comfortable six seconds.

TANDEM PURSUIT (B & VI)
Aileen McGlynn and pilot Ellen Hunter also landed their second gold having won the opening day?s kilo. The Australian pairing of Hou and Gallagher were fastest in qualifying but the Brits were ahead from the gun in the final and held on to take gold.

2 Lindy Hou & Toireasa Gallagher AUS 3:41.494
3 Karissa Whitsell & Mackenzie Woodring USA 3:41.521
MEN?S KILO (CP3)
It was a one-two for Team GB in the men?s kilo as gold and silver went to Darren Kenny and Rik Waddon respectively. Waddon broke the world record ? set by Kenny in 2007 ? but training partner Kenny hit back by taking a massive four seconds off his own previous best. The 38-year-old from Dorset is still on target for five gold medals over the next 10 days.

2 WADDON Rik Waddon GBR 1:11.161
3 KVASNICKA Tomas Kvasnicka CZE 1:17.670
MEN?S KILO (LC1)
Another gold and another world record as Mark Bristow powered ahead of China?s Kuidong Zhang in the opening laps and kept up the pressure to win comfortably.
1 Mark Bristow GBR 1:08.873 (WR)
2 Kuidong Zhang CHN 1:10.475
3 Wolfgang Sacher GER 1:10.812
MEN?S KILO (LC2)
Jody Cundy is no stranger to standing on the top step of the podium ? three gold medals in his previous three Paralympics ? but this was the first time the former swimmer had done it as a cyclist.
Cundy smashed his own world record by three seconds on the way to beating silver medallist Jiri Jezek from the Czech Republic.
1 Jody Cundy GBR 1:05.466 (WR)
2 Jiri Jezek CZE 1:11.182

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
