TRIKE RECORD FALLS

YORKSHIRE Road Club rider Carl Saint sliced three seconds off the 19-year-old record for the Tricycle 10-mile record in East Yorkshire on Saturday.

Saint, from Slaithwaite near Huddersfield, clocked 21min 2sec in the Yorkshire Ladies CA promotion on the super-fast V718 course, which uses the A63 at South Cave in East Yorkshire, to overhaul the 1989 time of Glenn Longland.

Reports from the course marshals say that Saint looked slow as he navigated the roundabouts, but his sheer power on the straights brought him home just under the record.

Saint is down to ride the Team Swift charity event on Wednesday on the same East Yorkshire course, and will then travel to Cumbria on Thursday for another shot at the record on the Levens course near Grange-over-Sands.

Times in the Yorkshire LCA event were generally around 30 seconds down on expected performances with less than ideal conditions, and while early forecasts suggest this week’s weather will also not be ideal, few would bet against Saint slicing another few seconds off the record.
