CAMPAGNOLO LAUNCHES 11-SPEED GROUPSETS

As we reported last month, Campagnolo has gone one better than the competition and launched 11-speed road components.
A select group of journalists was invited to the Croce d'Aune, Italy, at the weekend to see the new components and get a chance to give them a ride.
Three top-end 2009 Campagnolo groupsets will receive the 11-speed treatment - Super Record, Record and Chorus. Centaur and Veloce remain 10-speed. For now.
According to Campagnolo, every transmission component in the 11-speed groups was redesigned. This includes the Ergopower levers, front and rear derailleurs, chain, cassette and crankset. Campag's engineers have improved the stiffness of the rear derailleur, with the aim of making more precise shifts.
The re-appearance of a Super Record groupset, a super-lightweight and quite probably super-expensive version of the already lightweight Record group. Super Record will use titanium parts to shed weight and increase component life.
The new 11-speed cassettes are available in 11-23, 11-25, 12-25 and 12-27 ranges. Although Campagnolo have not confirmed it, it appears that cassette should fit a 10-speed hub, and therefore most current wheelsets.
Other than just accommodating the extra gear, Campag's Ergopower levers receive a significant update, with hoods sitting higher on the bar in accordance with riders' current preference. Internal parts have also been tweaked to improve performance.
