WIGGINS AND MILLAR DISAPPOINTED WITH TT RIDES

Bradley Wiggins and Dave Millar were both disappointed with their rides in the time trial. Wiggins finished tenth, 2-10 behind winner Fabian Cancellara, while Millar was 18th at 2-40.
David Millar openly admitted he was on a bad day: “I felt terrible from the off, it was just one of those days, disappointing. When you’re an athlete there are days when you don’t feel right.
"Maybe the preparation was wrong and I haven’t raced for a month. I just wasn’t right today. I was prepared for the bad weather because it had been forecast and I seem to have done 80% of my time trials in the rain this year. Unfortunately my lack of racing and my up and down year meant it just wasn't happening.”
Millar warmed down on the rollers after the time trial, hoping he can do better in Sunday’s road race. “I’ve got to move on and hopefully not being good in the time trial will give me some extra motivation for Sunday’s road race,” he added.
WIGGINS SIGNS OFF WITH TENTH PLACE
Bradley Wiggins warmed down with a beer, happy his season was over with tenth place, 2-10 behind Cancellara. He was pleased his tenth had given Great Britain two places in the time trial at the Beijing Olympics but had hoped to get a better result.
“Before the start I thought I had an outside chance of a medal but it just didn’t happen for one reason or another and I’m not sure why,” Wiggins said.
“I could come up with a lot of excuses but I just wasn’t good enough, it’s as simple as that. I was pleased with the effort and I started well and stuck to plan of the race. I was going well on some sections but then wobbled through the tactical bits. I didn’t think I disgraced myself and I’m pleased with a semi-respectable ride. I didn’t have anything to lose when I decided to do it and so I’m glad I rode.”
