OLYMPIC medallist and Tour de France ace Bradley Wiggins (Cofidis) has entered the Lancashire Road Club’s classic hill-climb on The Rake next month.
Wiggins, 27, will tackle the 970-yard climb at Ramsbottom on October 14, and will line-up alongside old Southport CC team-mate Jim Henderson, five times the national hill-climb champion.
With a first prize of £600 the event is always a popular attraction, and other who have tackled the event over the years include Graeme Obree, Chris Boardman and Malcolm Elliott. Entries for the event close on October 2.
