CYCLE SPORT OCTOBER: THE BRITS ARE COMING
Barely a year ago it seemed impossible that British riders would establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the professional peloton.
Mark Cavendish is the sprint sensation of the season, the T-Mobile Manxman having bagged an impressive eight pro wins so far in his debut year as a pro. Bradley Wiggins and David Millar have also added impressive victories to their palmares throughout the year, and there are more riders on the way - such as Welshman Geraint Thomas, who made his Tour de France debut in July.
Cycle Sport magazine's October issue - featuring Cavendish on the cover - looks at the Brits who are making a mark, and asks how the Brits got so good. There are in-depth interviews and features on Cavendish, Wiggins, Millar, Thomas and Roger Hammond.
Elsewhere in the issue two features look as the past and future of American professional teams. Discovery Channel have called it a day, and Cycle Sport charts the success of the team that spawned Lance Armstrong's seven Tour victories including an exclusive photo gallery. Team Slipstream are now set to take over from Discovery as the USA's premier squad, and have a roster full of big names and brimming with young talent. CS talks to team boss Jonathan Vaughters to talk about the squad and its stringent take on anti-doping measures.
Plus there's the usual round-up of race analysis, results, Broomwagon and much more.
Cycle Sport October 2007 issue is on sale from Thursday September 6 from WH Smith and all good newsagents and supermarkets, priced £3.95.
