Magnus Backstedt will be missing from the Bec CC Hill-Climb on Sunday, October 22, after he crashed in training on the Newport track.
The Welsh-based Liquigas rider hit the deck last week while practising Madison hand slings behind a derny with Freddie Johansson, another starter for the hill climb.
Backstedt suffered a separated shoulder and will have further consultations this week before any decisions on an operation are taken, while Johansson was still in hospital on Monday with neck injuries and a broken bone in his right hand. He was due to leave hospital the following day.
