T-Mobile’s new-look super team take centre stage in the November edition of Cycle Sport. The German communications giant was close to pulling out of sponsoring a cycling team after squad star Jan Ullrich was embroiled in the Operacion Puerto affair prior to the Tour.
Rather than pulling the plug, however, T-Mobile decided to overhaul the squad, dispensing with the old management and a number of riders and then introducing radical new anti-doping measures. The magazine talks to the team to find out why and how they’ve done it.
Also in the issue: exclusive Thor Hushovd, Roger Hammond and Mark Cavendish interviews; World Championships photo special; Italy’s controversial doctors; UCI calendar in crisis and much more. See www.cyclesport.co.uk for more details.
Cycle Sport November 2006 is out from Thursday October 5, priced £3.95, and comes with a free ‘I Support Drug Free Sport’ campaign wristband. You can also obtain a free ‘I Support Drug Free Sport’ wristband at Cycle Show 2006, at the ExCeL exhibition centre from October 6-8. Cycling Weekly and Cycle Sport will be on stand B11.
