SAINTS JOIN DRUG FREE SPORT CAMPAIGN

Northampton Saints rugby football club have added their considerable weight behind Cycling Weekly's 'I Support Drug Free Sport' campaign.

The Guinness Premiership club signed up for the campaign after the club's performance coach, Tim Exeter, read about it in CW. Exeter, who uses cycling as part of the players' training, said: "The club was enthusiastic about supporting this worthy campaign as everyone at Saints believes success in a high level sport such as ours can be obtained in a drug-free environment."

Welsh Triathlon - the governing body of triathlon in Wales - have also signed up to support the campaign. "The scourge of drug cheats is not unique to any one sport and all sports must endeavour to get rid of them. We in triathlon take this issue seriously and are 100% with Cycling Weekly and Cycle Sport," said Dave Hart, performance director.

The ‘I Support Drug-Free Sport’ campaign has been set up by Cycling Weekly and sister magazine Cycle Sport to advocate professional sport in which drug-taking is not tolerated. For more information, click here.
