There has been success for Great Britain on the road at the European Youth Olympics in Finland. Joshua Papworth and Jonathan Dibben led the home charge, securing a one-two in yesterday’s criterium.
The Britons, along with team-mate Oliver Rossi, comfortably made it through the qualifying heats. In the final, the three tried to mark every attack. With everything still together at the finish, Halesowen-born Papworth jumped hard 200 metres out and crossed the line first, just ahead of squadmate Dibben.
This is not Dibben's first silver medal of the Games - he also finished second in Tuesday’s time-trial, finishing two seconds adrift of Fabian Lienhard.
The 60-kilometre road race is this afternoon, where the three-man British team will be hoping to add to their medal haul. Overall, on day three of the five-day competition, Team GB sit top of the table, with six golds, three silvers and three bronzes.
