Mark Cavendish wins Sparkasse Giro 2009
Mark Cavendish will miss the Tour of Britain this year, opting instead to ride the Tour of Missouri (September 7-13).
This decision rmirrors the Manxman's 2008 schedule, where he also chose to ride in Missouri, claiming three stages.
With key Team Columbia-HTC lead-out men Mark Renshaw and George Hincapie - providing that he has recovered from his Tour collarbone fracture - at his side, it's a good bet that Cavendish will add to his tally of 20 wins this season in the American Midwest.
After his six-stage haul at the Tour de France, Cavendish has continued his prolific winning streak in recent weeks, taking the Sparkassen Giro and post-Tour criteriums in Aalst, Herentals and Roosendaal.
The 24 year-old is now due to take a short break before his next race, the Tour of Ireland (August 21-23).
