Lance Armstrong rides in Dublin

Lance Armstrong announced another impromptu ride this morning (Tuesday, August 25), this time starting in Dublin's Phoenix Park later today.

Last week's Armstrong ride in Scotland drew a crowd of around 300 to Paisley, eager to saddle up with the seven-time Tour de France winner despite the driving rain.

Armstrong posted on Twitter that he would be setting out at 5.30pm from Ireland's capital. "Good morning Dublin. Who wants to ride this afternoon? I do. 5:30 pm @ the roundabout of Fountain Rd and Chesterfield Ave. See you there.." read the tweet.

Thousands lined the streets of Cork for the final stage of the Tour of Ireland on Sunday to catch a glimpse of the Texan but were left disappointed as Armstrong pulled in before tackling St Patrick's Hill and headed straight for the Astana team bus.

Anyone unable to make it to Dublin in time, however, did have the option of riding with Tour of Ireland winner Russell Downing.

"morning rotherham, who wants to come on the tour of ireland celebration bike ride end of wilsic lane 10 am see u there" was the Downing equivalent of Armstrong's post on Twitter.

It is not known how many riders turned up in Rotherham...
