Great Britain’s Charly Weglius has abandoned the Tour of Spain during stage four of the race from Venlo to Liege on Tuesday.

"Vuelta over," Wegelius wrote on his Twitter feed. "When you're tired, you get crook, then you get dropped. Need some serious rest. Like until next season."

The Silence-Lotto rider had already raced and completed both the Tours of Italy and France this year, and he will be disappointed to have withdrawn from the race.
